General Information

By train
Because Zermatt is a car-free zone, the most convenient option to get to Zermatt is by train. The journey takes about 3-4 hours depending on the airport of arrival. The trains are running hourly from Zurich, Geneva and Basel Airport to Visp. From there, the “Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn” takes you to Zermatt. Please follow the instructions by the Swiss Railway SBB. The comfortable journey with breathtaking views is well worth it.

In Zermatt, the electro cab from the Hotel Zermatterfhof picks you up at the railway station. Please inform the hotel about your arrival time in Zermatt.

  • The Swiss Transfert Ticket is not available from SBB ticket counters in Switzerland!
  • You need to purchase it online from SBB Ticket Shop in your country (print@home)
  • Children between 6 and 16 years of age who are accompanied by at least one parent travel free of charge (with the complimentary Swiss Family Card, free of charge)
